Don Bowman, Owner and Chairman of the Board

Mr. Bowman is a native of the Hagerstown, MD area and has resided in Washington County, MD his entire life. He is the founder of D. M. Bowman, Inc, Owner and developer of Bowman Plains (an industrial sub-division near Frederick, MD), Founder and now Chairman of Bowman Sales and Equipment (a storage and office trailer leasing company), Chairman of Bowman Development Corporation (a construction and land development company), Managing member of Bowman Truck Leasing, LLC (this is a truck leasing company affiliated with National Lease), Managing partner of Bowman Group, LLP, Managing Partner of Bowman Food and Hospitality, Member of the American Trucking Association since 1978 (State Vice President 1984-1988. Vice President at Large 1989 - 1992. Served as Chairman 1995-1996), Member of Maryland Motor Truck Association since 1971. (Served as President of the Western Maryland Chapter in 1976-1977. On state board since 1974. Vice President from 1979 thru 1982 and State President from 1982 thru 1983. Honored as 1995 Person of the Year), and was named Business Leader of the Month for Washington County, July, 1994.

Don has been active in community affairs, serving as active Exchange Club member from 1972 to 1990, with two 3-year terms as a board member. He is a member and past board member of the Hagerstown Associated Builders and Contractors. He is also a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of Hagerstown Trust Company (since 1981), Board of Directors of Fulton Financial Corporation, Williamsport United Methodist Church, American Truck Historical Society, as well as various antique car and truck clubs. Don enjoys antique car and truck collecting and restoration, walking, and biking.

Jim Ward, President and CEO

Jim has held many positions within D. M. Bowman, Inc. including VP of Quality, Director of Human Resources and Safety Manager before being promoted to President & CEO. He has more than 25 years of experience in the transportation industry with various management positions including Managing Director, Transportation Industry Division for Willis, MD, Division Safety Representative, Locomotive Engineer and Trainman for CSX Corporation. He is a native of Maryland and attended Hagerstown Community College and Frostburg State College. He has been active in industry associations and currently serves as ATA Vice President, Board of Directors for the Truckload Carriers Association, and Board of Directors for the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, Truckload Carriers Symposium.

Scott Bowen, Director of Safety and Risk Management

Scott joined D.M. Bowman Inc. following 23 years in the transportation industry in various capacities. As Director of Safety and Risk Management he develops strategies to identify corporate exposures to loss and implement appropriate risk management techniques to eliminate or reduce the impact of any losses. Other responsibilities include management of workers compensation, OSHA, compliance, safety management/communications, and log audit. Scott served with the United States Army, stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. He has a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University and a MBA from Sangamon State University, now known as the University of Illinois.

David Faith, Director of Information Technology (IT)

Dave joined D. M. Bowman's IT Department in March of 1991. Promoted to Director of IT in October 2005, Dave is responsible for integrating the use of technology and optimizing systems throughout the company. He oversees network management, programming and end user support. Dave has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Frostburg State University.

Gary Kelley, Senior Vice President - Driver Services and Human Resources

Gary joined the company in November 2006. Gary has over 30 years experience in the transportation industry, in recruiting, administration, sales and marketing. Most recently, functioning as a consultant he set up a training school recruiting program and worked with 3rd party recruiting. Gary entered the transportation industry in after serving with the U.S. Air Force. He holds a Bachelor or Science, Social Science/Psychology from Black Hills State University in South Dakota. Gary is responsible for achieving optimal driver staffing for all business units.

Brian Hall, Senior Vice President, Business Development
Brian joined D. M. Bowman, Inc. in October 2006. He has been involved in the transportation industry since 1989, with experience initially in planning and customer service. Early in his career he entered into sales, working as National Account Executive and then as Director of Business Development. His primary function with D. M. Bowman, Inc. is to direct the efforts of the sales department to benefit all business units, with a focus on backhauls, pricing and contract negotiation. Brian has a Bachelor of Business Administration, major in Transportation and Logistics, from Iowa State University.
 

Dave Ebner, Chief Logistics Officer

With nearly 30 years of warehousing, transportation and logistics experience, Dave joined D. M. Bowman, Inc. in July 1999 as Chief Logistics Officer. He has experience with public and contract warehousing as well as transportation services and solutions. D. M. Bowman offers a wide-range of logistics services. Our relentless focus on quality, safety, and the customer has allowed D. M. Bowman to forge lasting relationships with its clients to achieve mutual success.

Cindy Joiner, Chief Financial Officer

Cindy came to D. M. Bowman Inc. from a public accounting and auditing background and holds a Certified Public Accountant designation. She is an alumnus of James Madison University and has served in various capacities during her 16-year tenure with the company. Currently she manages the financial operations of the company with responsibilities including payroll, fuel/permits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing. In addition to her corporate responsibilities, Cindy has also coordinated D. M. Bowman's local participation in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life events for several years.

Don Meckley, Director of Special Projects

As Director of Special Projects, Don manages projects that are large in scope and have a significant impact on the company, such as acquisitions, new facility openings, or a new business line start-up. Don joined D. M. Bowman, Inc. in 1974 as a Professional driver for 3 years. He has worked in numerous operational capacities at several our locations most recently as Team Leader of the Van Division and Terminal Manager of the Williamsport facility.

Dave Wine, VP of Sales

Dave graduated from Towson State University with a BS in Business Administration. He has 30 years of transportation experience in the areas of Operations, Sales and Sales Management. Dave has been instrumental in securing new business, developing customer relationships with a focus on delivery of quality customer service, and business acquisition transitions.

Mike Boarman, Director of Maintenance

Mike is responsible for the overall profitability of the company’s shops, which include a tractor shop, trailer shop, tire shop and body shop in the Williamsport area, as well as full-service shops at our Huntersville, Indianapolis, Somerset, York, Frederick and Williamsport terminal locations – several which also offer service to outside commercial customers.  Mike also purchases equipment and ensures it is appropriately rotated into the fleet.  With D. M. Bowman, Inc. since 1985, Mike has extensive hands on experience with all shop functions, as well as with the company’s maintenance software.
